Pelican Crossing Temporarily Replaces Tendean Pedestrian Bridge

The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency confirmed that the pelican crossing facility, which replaces the pedestrian bridge on Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang Prapatan, can now be used by pedestrians.

Paving has been installed

Head of the Sub-agency, Bernard Octavianus Pasaribu said the road crossing has been usable since two days ago or Tuesday (7/28) with the construction of a zebra crossing and tidying up of the middle of the sidewalk.

"Paving has been installed in the center median of the sidewalk. We'll continue with the paving tonight," he said, Thursday (7/30).

He added that there is also a Traffic Signal Device (APILL) to facilitate the management of crossing times and passing vehicles.

The South Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency also deployed personnel to provide information about the pelican crossing to road users.

"This new pelican crossing is expected to support the crossing activities of residents in the Tendean area until the replacement JPO is completed," he added.

Meanwhile, Oki, a local resident, admitted that the pelican crossing is helpful in facilitating mobility, especially since the traffic flow in this location is quite heavy every day.

"Hopefully there will be an officer every morning or during rush hour, so that crossing can be smooth," he admitted.
